PLANNED GIVING & THE ARCHIMEDES CLUB One objective of The ASME Foundation is to service our membership. How can we help in your efforts to further the field of mechanical engineering? Planned Giving enables a donor to bestow money/assets to The ASME Foundation upon his/her death. It is also a way for a donor to invest money to receive benefits during his/her lifetime in order to then bequeath the remaining funds to The ASME Foundation. In both cases, one can leave a lasting legacy of philanthropy toward the future of mechanical engineering. The ASME Foundation Archimedes Club comprises friends of ASME who have made a planned gift to the foundation. Archimedes Club members are committed to improving the world and supporting technical achievement.
The ASME Foundation promotes the profession of mechanical engineering by encouraging charitable gifts that support these activities:
SCHOLARSHIPS For the 2006-2007 fiscal year, the Foundation awarded over $181,500 and 84 scholarships to deserving high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarship recipients are committed to making lasting contributions in mechanical engineering; they are the future of mechanical engineering.
HONORS AND AWARDS The recognition of the excellence of a mechanical engineer’ s work by his or her peers is one of the greatest rewards of accomplishment. Every year The ASME Foundation provides over $500,000 to the honors and awards program as a way to encourage the excellence of existing mechanical engineers and showcase that work to the greater public. Society honors and awards recognize service and achievement in specific areas of mechanical engineering and further advances the field.
GRANTS PROGRAM Each year, The ASME Foundation provides financial support to ASME units for specific projects in the following three areas: Technical Literacy, Career Planning and Skills Development, and Technologically Sound Public Policy.
FUNDRAISING RESOURCES Non-profit management is synonymous with fundraising, a task that is intricate to the survival of any not-for-profit organization. The ASME Foundation has compiled helpful tools for those interested in perfecting the fundraising process.
