The Pension Protection Act of 2006, signed into law on August 17, offers new tax incentives for charitable contributions from donors aged 70-1/2 or older. Under this law, you can draw on funds from your IRA to make a lifetime charitable gift to ASME free of tax obligations.
Now, IRA gifts can be accomplished with ease and without tax implications. You can make that gift now, while you are living and you can witness the benefits of your generosity.
You may take advantage of this opportunity if:
- You are 70-1/2 or older
- Your gift is $100,000 or less each year for two years
- Gifts are made on or before December 31, 2007
- Funds are transferred directly from an IRA or a Rollover IRA
- The gift is made outright to one or more public charities
To make such a gift, contact your IRA custodian for the necessary forms to transfer your desired gift amount to The ASME Foundation. Of course, it is always wise to consult with your tax professionals before making a charitable gift, especially under the new law.
