Scope: Grants should be consistent with at least one of the following areas of significance:
- Technical Literacy
- Career Planning and Skills Development
- Technologically Sound Public Policy
For details of the above areas, see Grants Program Overview .
Eligibility: The ASME Foundation accepts grant proposals from ASME Sectors (Centers Sector, Strategic Management Sector, Institutes Sector, Knowledge and Community Sector and Codes and Standards Sector). Any unit of ASME may submit a grant proposal for an eligible project with sponsorship from one or more of the ASME Sectors listed.
Process:
- Proposals are accepted from July 1 to August 15 for a review process beginning upon intake completion. The Foundation Board will review final recommended proposals at its November meeting, and decisions will be announced following that meeting.
Application: The ASME Foundation offers an electonic application where candidates complete a simple form and attach the full proposal to a secure part of our web site. Grants Program Application.
Proposal: The proposal should provide project detail, including objectives, schedule, and business plan.
Preferences:
- All grant funds are to be spent within the calendar year that funds are awarded for, unless written approval is obtained by the Foundation for a reasonable extension. Each project team has until September 30 to request said extension. An extension request should include a detailed plan of how the extra time will allow project completion and an estimated completion date.
- Multiple-year proposals are welcome, whereby grant winners follow procedures identical to that of a single-year proposal. No commitment for funding for subsequent years is implied.
- Grant winners submit expense reports to The Foundation for processing.
- For detailed account of program income and expenditures, award winners submit a quarterly budget form; see below for dates:
